According to the latest published by the Union Government in 2011, there are 7.6 million children living in slums all over India. The future of children born in those streets falls in danger from the same day they are born. The only thing they are taught from childhood is to earn their living for food. There is a lack of educational awareness among them owing to which slum kids take no interest in school. They face a daily struggle to exist each day.

These underprivileged children have to face life’s challenges at an early age. They are forced to do work like domestic helper, human trafficking and also in illegal transactions. They get entangled in life’s vicious circle. This affects them mentally and physically. Lack of educational and career awareness leave slum kids deprived of deserving educational opportunities. So, there is a need of career guidance for the slum children so that they can attain their dreams.

Therefore, Voice of Slum has started a programme for slum kids in which children are taken to KidZania every three and six months. It is an indoor theme park with more than 100 role-playing activities. It is the perfect place for kids to not only enjoy but enhance learning through realistic role-play. KidZania is similar to a city with vehicles, roads and other activities like fire station, police station, courtroom and prison, science lab, radio station, dental as well as medical theatres, ice-cream factory, newsroom, IT centre, town governance, BRTS, heritage gallery. It is a place which is very exciting and exceptionally interactive.

KidZania has its own currency. Kids also get equipment, uniforms where they are allowed to play the role of RJs, firefighters, doctors and manufacturers in real life. They just live their dreams at this place. They are able to understand the challenges of being a doctor or policemen and responsibilities of whichever field they pursue to make their career in. It is a unique and safe play zone to educate and inspire kids.

The place is so exciting that they realize that life is not only limited to fulfil their everyday requirement but also to chase their dreams. Voice of Slum makes the slum kids realize and live their dreams by which they hope to work hard and build their future. In this way, Voice of Slum is trying to bring light to the dark life of kids and encourage them to become independent in life by making a successful career.
